YOUR FLOOR DOESN'T HAVE TO BE COLD!

INSULATES SUSPENDED TIMBER FLOORS
YOUR CURE FOR COLD FLOORS
RetroviveFLOOR insulates underneath your traditional wooden floor WITHOUT pulling up all your floorboards.
We do this by lifting just a few floorboards, at intervals up to 8 feet apart, and fitting our unique 'hammocks' between the floor joists – into which we blow high-performance insulation that packs tightly into all corners, leaving no gaps.
The result is a layer of insulation that keeps the cold draughts OUT and your warm air IN.
HOW IT WORKS
Old houses have a ventilation space under the ground floor to prevent damp rising up from the ground.
But this also means cold air is constantly blowing just a floorboard-thickness beneath your feet – sucking heat out of your living space and sending chilly draughts up between the boards and under your skirting boards.
RetroviveFLOOR works twice to cure this problem: it adds a layer of insulation to keep your heat in, and it also blocks off the draughts.
The only other installation option is to pull up every floorboard, usually removing the skirting boards first, before being able to install the insulation: a process that often means repainting skirting and walls.
With RetroviveFLOOR, most of this is avoided. Because we're not dismantling your room in the first place, there's very little disruption.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
All rooms and jobs are different. These variations in area, floor depth, distance to travel, etc can greatly affect a square metre rate figure. As you can see from the video, the process of insulating a suspended timber floor is essentially a small building job. Even so it is the least disruptive process given the alternatives.
We can price each job quickly and accurately given the necessary information. So the best way to find out how much insulating your floor would cost is to get in touch with us. We can say, given the variable nature of the parameters, most jobs end up costing between £85 and £110 per square metre.
Our prices compare favourably to replacing period windows with double-glazing, but Retrovive is much more effective. The area insulated under a floor is typically many times larger than the window.
PAYING FOR ITSELF
Our Retrovive customers have reported saving up to 43% on their heating, as well as being much, much warmer compared with previous years.
This means that, although each situation is different, it can also be possible to realise a sensible payback period on your investment.
Despite a long, cold winter in 2012-13, one customer reported back the following energy-saving figures. Although we don't claim we could achieve this for every customer, people are surprised to discover just how much heat can be lost through the floor:
We guarantee that you will notice the difference to the warmth of your rooms. If not, we'll refund your money back.
We also guarantee all our materials and workmanship for at least 25 years, given normal conditions – so you know your investment is protected.
It means Retrovive is a no-risk way to cure your house of cold.
"THIS HOUSE HAS NOW BECOME A HOME"
For most of our customers, saving on their bills is actually a secondary concern. Although heating bills will naturally be reduced by insulation, the crucial difference that Retrovive makes is to your enjoyment of your own home. Our customers are typically proud and enthusiastic homeowners who invest a lot of time and energy to make their home a special place for them. Retrovive is often the final piece of the puzzle – allowing you to truly enjoy the home that you've invested in.
INSTALLATION JUST AS YOU'D HAVE IT: QUICK, EFFICIENT, PROFESSIONAL – AND OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY
Our unique system often means we can insulate a whole room in just a single day – and leave it clean and tidy.
Because we blow our insulation in, there is minimal disruption and the installation is both quicker and less dusty than taking up an entire floor to install slab or batten types of insulation.
WHO ARE WE?
RetroviveFLOOR is a system solely operated by Devana Insulation, a Cambridge-based company founded and run by Stephen Collings and Jolyon Warvill. RetroviveFLOOR was developed from a belief that old houses shouldn't have to be cold and energy-inefficient – and that the future energy sustainability of the UK requires intelligent upgrades to the millions of traditionally-built homes across the country.
Stephen and Jolyon bring together decades of experience designing, redeveloping and building houses, as well as installing blown cellulose insulation across the country.
Stephen Collings has been designing and developing buildings for thirty years, including the sports pavilion for Downing College, Cambridge, and Horningsea Village Hall.
A classically-trained pianist, Stephen takes a meticulous and intellectual approach to problem-solving and designed the Retrovive system as a sophisticated solution to a widespread need.
Jolyon Warvill is the driving force behind the installation of Retrovive: a real "doer" with deep-rooted principles of integrity and of doing the job properly, an astonishing work ethic and a knack for on-site problem-solving.
Jolyon makes sure that all RetroviveFLOOR work is done to the very highest standard and that your home is left clean and tidy at the end of the job. He takes his coffee quite strong with one sugar, please.
